By creating an account or using SortMyFood ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice.
SortMyFood is a kitchen management platform that provides:

To use SortMyFood you must create an account with a valid email address and a password (minimum 8 characters, at least one number). You are responsible for:
Accounts are personal — do not share your login credentials. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. You can cancel anytime through the subscription management portal in Settings — access continues through the end of your current billing period.
Refunds: All sales are final. If you cancel, you retain Pro access until the end of the paid period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at waldmannevan@gmail.com.

You retain ownership of all content you create in SortMyFood (recipes, pantry items, meal plans, collections, feedback). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content as needed to operate the Service.
Public sharing: When you share a recipe, meal plan, or collection publicly via the Discover feature, you grant other SortMyFood users a non-exclusive license to view, import, and use that content within the Service. You can unshare or delete public content at any time, but copies already imported by other users will remain in their accounts.
Community content: Recipes, ratings, comments, and votes you post to the community are visible to all users. Comments must be respectful and relevant. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.

The recipe import feature extracts publicly available recipe data from URLs you provide. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access the content at those URLs. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of imported recipes. Always verify ingredients for allergies, dietary restrictions, and food safety.
When you create a household and invite members, all members can view and modify shared data (pantry items, meal plans, shopping lists). As the home owner, you are responsible for who you invite. Removing a member revokes their access but does not delete data they contributed.
Push notifications are optional and require your explicit browser permission. You can customize which notification types you receive and disable them at any time in Settings. We limit notification frequency to prevent spam (same notification type maximum once per 12 hours).
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion requires password confirmation and is immediate and permanent. All your data is removed including your account, homes you own, recipes, collections, push subscriptions, and notification preferences. Content you shared publicly may persist in anonymized form. The SortMyFood name, logo, design, and software are owned by us. You may not use our branding without permission. User-generated content (recipes, comments) remains the property of the user who created it.
SortMyFood is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
Food safety: SortMyFood is a convenience tool — it is not a food safety authority. Always use your own judgment regarding food freshness, allergens, and preparation. We are not liable for any adverse health effects from following recipes, relying on expiration estimates, or consuming food based on information in the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SortMyFood and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claims related to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SortMyFood and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which the operator resides, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
These Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and SortMyFood regarding use of the Service.
